Bharat-Nepal Sahitya Sangam at Gyalshing

 Gyalshing, 25 Nov:

Press Club of Sikkim, in association with the Press Club of West Sikkim and Paschim Sikkim Sahitya Prakashan, organized a literary programme, Bharat-Nepal Sahitya Sangam-2018, here at the Bharatiya Nepali Shahitya, Sanskriti Anusandhan Kendra today.



The programme had the special presence of renowned literary figures from Nepal, Darjeeling and Sikkim. In attendance were Ninu Chapagai, President, Deokota Lusun Pragya Pratisthan as chief guest and the programme was chaired by Padmashri Kedar Gurung,

The delegation from Nepal was represented by Ninu Chapagai, Sangeet Shrota, Khagendra Khushi, Indra Regmi, Bimal Niva, Purushottam Acharya, Ranendra Barali, Jiwan Sharma, Sita Sharma, Matrika Pokhrel.

Likewise, Darjeeling was represented by Kamal Bhattarai and Kiran Kambang and Sikkim, pexpectedly, had a strong presence.

Peots from Sikkim Milan Pradhan, Uddhav Gopal Pradhan, Gobardhan Bastola, Rudra Kaushik, Prem Mukhia Bairagi, Pramil Tamang, Mahananda Dahal and others were present.

Jiwan Sharma, a musician and singer from Nepal, performed while Dreamers Dance Academy, Gyalshing, students form Langang School and members of the Lok Adhuni Band presented musical and traditional cultural performances.

The literati from Nepal is here on a three-day Literary Study Tour and will be attending different interactive literary programmes to be held in Namchi and Gangtok.

Addressing the event, Kedar Gurung said that such programmes will contribute in making the Sikkim and Indo-Nepal bonding stronger.

Ninu Chapagai, in turn, remarked that such literary programmes benefit the society and create an opportunity to understand each other better.

The function was also addressed by Joseph Lepcha, president, Press Club of Sikkim, and Puran Tamang, general secretary, PCS.
